Welcome to the Postpartum University podcast, where we support you and your provider in understanding the science, the art, and the sacredness of healing after birth. I’m Maranda Bower, your host, your Postpartum Nutrition Specialist, and homesteading mom with four wild kids. It’s time to get you the holistic whole body healing that works. Hello, my beautiful friends. Welcome to the Postpartum University podcast. Of course, I’m Maranda Bower, your host, and I have a very important topic that I want to speak with you about today. And this is really everything that you need to know about the Postpartum Nutrition Certification Program that launches today. This is something that has been blowing up my email. And as we’re gearing up for this amazing cohort, this is probably the sixth or seventh cohort that we had in the last couple of years. I’m losing track because we’re having so many and it’s just been amazing. But I’ve been getting a lot of questions as I always do. And I thought, you know what? I need to just put this out here in a podcast episode for all of you listeners who are interested in this.
So if you are not familiar with Postpartum University, and we’ll tell you we got our name on the map because of the Postpartum Nutrition Certification Program. This program is specifically designed to get in touch with the whole body healing aspects of every woman whoever goes through the postpartum period and beyond. And really, we are taking several components of nutrition and health and healing and putting them into a certification program so that you understand the physiological and psychological changes that occur after having a baby. And we don’t talk about this enough. As a matter of fact, I feel like it’s one of the most missing conversational pieces that we could ever possibly have during this intricate and special and sacred time that is postpartum. We know as women that our body is shifting and changing, we can feel it. It’s almost a no-brainer. We can see it in the mirror. We understand it, but nobody is telling us what is actually occurring. What’s happening in our nervous system? What’s happening to our digestive system? And how do we support those things and all of the systems within our body so that it can function at a really good level and protect us and protect our baby and not get out of balance so that autoimmune disease happens or depression and anxiety are happening?
And so I speak greatly about these spiraling effects and how that is so important for us to recognize these and support our body at the root cause. And so root cause medicine was born from this. Everything that you hear us speak about in postpartum university comes from this certification program and it got started because of the massive lack of information, especially regarding this psychological and physiological component of giving birth. We talk about the changes, we talk about what we need. We talk about how important it is to nourish ourselves for our breast milk, but that doesn’t even begin to truly get to the details of what’s happening within us. And when we understand that at a fundamental level, when we truly understand what’s really occurring within our bodies, we can do magic. All of a sudden, a whole new world opens up and we’re really truly able to support our own selves at a deeper, deeper level.
So we got started in this because of the massive gap and we are using this certification not just for doulas or not just for doctors. This is for any providers who are working within the birth and postpartum field. So postpartum professionals or professionals who are working with the perinatal population. We have doctors, midwives, nurses, doulas, pelvic floor physical therapists, counselors, nutritionists. We have so many different people taking this course from around the world. We are currently in over 15 different countries, which is absolutely amazing. We’ve served thousands and thousands of providers and women and it just keeps growing and it keeps growing because it is so amazing. And I’m not saying that it’s super amazing just because it’s my baby. Of course, I’m a little biased, but for those of you who know me know that I am always doing my absolute best to make this program everything and it’s of itself.
I mean, we are working so much to make this program the best of the best. We’re always shifting, we’re always adding, we’re always making sure that we are up to date. We constantly give new trainings for those who are certified. It’s just an amazing program and we want to make sure that everyone is so well supported. I want to share with you something that some people have said just so you know that it’s just not me talking about my baby here. Here is Simone. Simone has worked as a dietician and nutritionist as well as a professional in the birthing field and here’s what she had to say. She said, “This certification has given me so much clarity in how to help my future clients. I feel like I can easily point out what foods are nourishing and not nourishing to a postpartum body as well as how to prepare them. This is my favorite certification of four that I have taken, three related to postpartum. It’s so rich. The physiology makes sense and I’m so happy to serve women with food in any way that is supportive and with integrity. As a nutrition major, I am saddened that my classes don’t even go as far or as in depth as this certification did for postpartum nutrition. Karina, who is also in the birth and postpartum field and also in early childhood development, she says, “I really loved doing this program because I learned so many important things that have helped me to better understand me and my postpartum journey, and will also support me on handling future transitions. I’m really looking forward to supporting other women and mothers with this truly important knowledge.” And I threw that one in there because I want to say that many people who are entering into the field, maybe you yourself are interested, and this is one of the questions I get. I’m gonna just jump in here right now and answer it. You do not have to be a professional in the field. You can be a mother, you can be someone who is passionate about starting to support mothers and families. Wherever you are in the journey, I make sure that you are starting at the baseline. And I work up to support you deeply in your understanding. So no matter where you are in your education and your understanding of postpartum or nutrition in general, this certification is gonna start you at the very beginning and increase so that no matter where you are, you’re gonna be able to understand and fully comprehend and actually feel very confident in what you are learning here.
So obviously this program caught like wildfire. We now serve so many people because of this program and we have such a massive business and vision and we’re able to support so many because of this. And I will tell you, if you’re not familiar with this, that’s totally fine. Every year, actually twice a year, we host our postpartum nutrition masterclass. Hundreds and hundreds of people are in attendance to this. This is something that will be happening very soon, it’s completely free. You can show up and basically, I am giving you this new information. So if you are wanting to learn a lot more about the significance of these physiological changes of a postpartum body and how that shapes her dietary needs and overall healing after birth, this is where you can show up to learn that. I will have the registration link for you in a couple of weeks. If you are wanting that, make sure that you are on my list. You can go to my website, I have a subscription. Just make sure you’re on that because that is where I announce that to first and seats do fill up. So make sure that you grab that. And really, that course, that mini masterclass is where we go so deep into so many different conversations and topics that are very much ingrained and related to the certification program. We talk about the physiology and function of a postpartum mother, how that impacts her gut health, and her long-term health. We talk about the psychological implications and how food affects sleep and hormone balance. And of course, it’s super informative. I always want to make sure that you walk away with something that you can use. And so you can be sure that you’re going to be able to use this information within your current work or practice.
And so I always have free information and handouts and all sorts of things that you can use. And I will tell you last year, we added a huge component to this masterclass. So if you’ve attended before, oftentimes, people attend over and over because there’s so many new things. And last year, we added the four stages of postpartum health and wellbeing and the decline of health. And so I actually show you an actual graphic and walk you through the process of postpartum health and wellbeing and where the mismatch happens and how we can better serve postpartum families through that. If you’re a birth and postpartum professional who wants to give the families you serve some solid holistic evidence-based information regarding nutrition, repletion, and nourishing your body after baby, this is for you. I have 18 beautiful pages in a handout form that is completely free. A free full guide to nutrition completion, common misconceptions, supplement support, favorite recipes, 30 healthy and quick snacks, and so many more. You can download your free collection with handouts at postpartumyou, that’s the letter u .com/handouts. So that’s kind of like the intro into the postpartum nutrition certification program.
So I will make sure that you get those details, check the show notes for that. And in the meantime, I’m going to answer several common questions that I get. So I wanna just be clear and upfront and make sure you have all of the information that you need. So here is one that I constantly get. What is my title after I graduate from the PNC program? Such a good question. So your title will be a certified postpartum nutrition professional. We call that the credentials are C, P, P, N, P. And those are the credentials that you can add to the end of your name. And so yes, you walk away with an actual certification, you get a digital copy, you also get one in the mail. Yay, it’s super exciting. And you essentially have this as your title. And so the next question that always comes after what is my title is what do I do with that title? What do I do with this certification? Also an amazing question. So let’s divide this into two components, because oftentimes we have people who are registering for the certification who are already in the field, they’re doulas, midwives, birth workers of some form or fashion, they are already in the field, they have an established practice, they’re already serving, right? And so let’s speak to those people really quickly. What I generally see people do and what we have an entire training in the certification program so that you can understand further what your options are. There’s a multitude of them. I see people adding coaching services, right? We have chiropractors who have their initial consult exam. They do their work, they exam the patient, and then they set up a package and your package deal includes so many chiropractic visits, but also, you know, wellness checkup exams, and there’s this additional benefit for those who are looking for nutritional support. Chiropractors and nutrition go hand in hand. And so that’s something that we consistently see. This is the same as midwives or nurses who are serving. If you’re a midwife in the field and you are working with your clients and you want to support them in the postpartum period, that starts really in pregnancy. And so making sure that they have the information that they need and making your job easier and making sure that they’re well nourished and cared for is absolutely significantly important to the conversation. I know many doulas will offer this as a course. They actually create an entire course and have this alongside maybe a childbirth education course or a part of a postpartum course. And then they’re essentially just teaching this information or they add it to their own existing practice where they are supporting the mothers and postpartum and the families and postpartum. And then they’re essentially adding in cooking services. So there’s a multitude of ways that you can do this. I’ve also seen people create cooking classes at the end of pregnancy where they gather up all of the material. Mom invites all of her friends. It’s like a cooking party. But there’s somebody there hosting and supporting. And then that mom walks away with tons of fresh cooked meals that she can put in the freezer and have just a very nourishing postpartum experience. So you get to be very, very creative. This is also something that you can use for coaching. So if you are in the coaching field or if you want to add that into your field of space or whatever it is that you’re currently doing, this is a really great place. You can create coaching packages. You can have people come to you who are looking to get healthier in the postpartum period. Maybe they’re not feeling well.
Maybe they have some major hair loss or constant fatigue and they’re just not sure what to do and they’re eating really crappy and they know it and they just need some support. This is a really great place to enter in your expertise. Now let’s talk a little bit about those who are not currently in the field. Maybe they’re wanting to start in the field. Maybe they’re super passionate about this work. They want to learn more. Maybe it’s just you want to learn more for yourself. Maybe you want to learn more and start a practice. And any of those things that I had shared are also something that you can do and create complete and satisfying and successful businesses from. And of course in the certification program, the last module, within your scope of practice, and all of the amazing things that go along with it. So if that is a huge fear of yours, know that one, you are absolutely not alone. We have an obligation to share this. And we wanna do so, of course, in a way that’s going to keep us safe, and also our clients safe, but there is so many ways in which we can do that, and I give you all of that.
Here’s another question that I get. If I register, do I get to be a part of postpartum university? Yes, and the amazing thing about this is that you get to be for life. We don’t charge you per year or anything along those lines. We make sure that you have all of the updated information, ongoing trainings at your fingertips for no charge. Once you are in with us, you are in with us for life. We take very, very, very good care of you, and we love to see you progress and your success. It’s super important to us that you are successful in this field. The more you are successful, the more women are successful, the more families are successful, and the more healthier these families will be. So your success is absolutely significant to our success. Without your success, we have none. So it’s very important that we take very good care of you, and so we make sure that when you’re in, you are in for life. Now, here is a really big question that I get often. This is the last one that I’m gonna cover today, is scholarships available? Such a good question, of course, and the answer is yes. When you are on the waitlist for the postpartum nutrition certification program, every single cohort beforehand, I send out an email letting you know where to get the information for the scholarship. There’s a form that you can fill out, all of the details that are there. When this show goes live, we will have just announced the scholarship winners for this cohort, for the fall cohort 2022. So make sure that no matter what, you are on that waitlist so that you can always get information, whether it be for this cohort, which is now open fully to you and for registration, or for the next cohorts that are going to be coming up. I open this up twice a year at this current time twice a year, you have the ability to register for this. So don’t delay seats really do fill up when this launches and you hear me talking. I will tell you that there is a good 48 hours in which this will be available and open. So hopefully you’re hearing this episode on Tuesday when it launches. Otherwise, you have a very slim chance of actually getting into the program because we do limit seats. It’s so, so important that everybody gets recognized and supported in all of their individual needs. And so in order to make that happen, we have really small class sizes. We want to make sure that everybody is going to be fully taken care of. So until we open up more seats until we have other trainers and participants, this is the absolute best way to do it. This is why we have such a huge five star rating satisfaction rate and is so, so important for us in our growth.
So I am so excited to share that if you have any questions about this or you’re wanting to join, please make sure that you reach out to us. Of course, all of those links that I have been talking about and links to learn more about the certification program itself is in the show notes. So definitely take a look at that. Make sure you get on the waitlist, even if it’s just for next year. And if you are listening into this and you want in this program, you got to get on it right away because it sells out quickly.
I hope this was super helpful for everyone who is listening in and have wanted more information or had some existing questions. I hope this was wildly helpful. And if not, please, please let me know if you have any other questions. Y’all know I’m here for you.
